AHS Instructors

Aloha Hula is under the direction of Lyn-Del Laua'e Pedersen. With the encouragement and support of her Aunty Ilima Russell and Uncle Charlie Kiaha, she started teaching out of her home in 2006. In 2007, she opened her studio in Granada Hills, Ca where she along with her sons, Taimane and Kaikea, teach Hula and Ori Tahiti.

Laua’e has been dancing since she was 5 years old and has been a professional dancer for over 45 years. As a child her basics were taught to her by Napua Woodd and Telu Mansfield . She was also greatly influenced by her parents , aunties and uncles as they were all professional Polynesian Dancers. Her studies of Hula and Ori Tahiti are ongoing as she believes a good teacher is never done being a student.

Laua’e has been a member of the Southern California Kumu Hula Association, Kulia I Ka Punawai since 2014.

Her halau (school/dance studio) is very active in the Polynesian community, with Aloha Hula being invited to perform at various Polynesian festivals & Concerts throughout the year.

Aloha Hula is very active in Ori Tahiti Soloist competitions on the West Coast. They have also traveled to Las Vegas, Hawaii and Tahiti to compete. Their dancers consistently place and have been blessed with many First Place trophies.

They have competed in Tahiti at the “Ori Tahiti” Solo competition as well as having one of their overall dancers invited to compete at the “World Competition” in Punaauia, Tahiti.

They are an award-winning dance studio and have trained many dancers. But they do not just teach for competition they also want to share with those that have an interest in and an appreciation for the Polynesian culture.

At Aloha Hula Lyn-Del and her sons strive to provide their students with an understanding of the origins of traditions, while also encouraging new expressions of Polynesian arts, music, and dance.

Inspired by their motto, “Imua” (to move forward), they encourage their haumana (students) to grow into a deeper appreciation of the Polynesian culture.
